Job Description
Betz & Port, P.A., a plaintiff’s personal injury law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our growing team. This role is designed for a self-driven professional who thrives on moving cases forward - not just reacting to deadlines, but actively strategizing to maximize case value and ensure compliance with all court rules.
Approximately 75% of your work will be litigation-focused (trial prep, depositions, discovery, mediation), with some involvement in pre-litigation matters (about 25%).
We’re looking for someone with 4+ years of paralegal experience in Minnesota litigation, ideally in personal injury, but civil litigation experience will be considered. Familiarity with Minnesota No-Fault law and the Minnesota Rules of Civil Procedure is essential.
We don’t hire order-takers. We’re looking for someone who takes full ownership of their files, keeps cases moving forward, and anticipates needs before being asked. If you’re someone who thrives on accountability and working independently, you’ll love this role.
Location: Primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings in the Twin Cities. Candidates should be located within approximately one hour of the Twin Cities, Minnesota.
Why Join Betz & Port?
• Impact: You’ll be a key part of a small, growing team, working directly with attorneys and helping shape the future of the firm.
• Growth: With our expansion comes opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and professional development not often available in larger firms.
• Flexibility: We are a technology-forward firm - 90% of your work will be from home. We provide the technology and support you need, while still having opportunities to connect in person with clients and the team in the Twin Cities.
• Culture: Our ethos is simple: people come first, integrity in everything, and zealous advocacy. You’ll work with attorneys and colleagues who care deeply about clients, about the work, and about your growth.
Responsibilities:
• Draft and respond to discovery requests, motions, pleadings, and other litigation documents.
• Manage litigation case files and track court deadlines.
• Prepare for depositions, mediations, and trials, including exhibits, witness prep, and filings.
• Conduct legal research and assist attorneys with analysis.
• Coordinate and communicate with clients, witnesses, medical providers, experts, and opposing counsel.
• Support attorneys at trial, including managing exhibits and witness scheduling.
• Stay current with Minnesota law, including no-fault and civil procedure updates.
• Take initiative to move cases forward and identify ways to improve processes.
• Assist with some pre-litigation work (demands, client updates, case monitoring).
Qualifications:
• 4+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal in Minnesota (personal injury strongly preferred).
• Strong working knowledge of Minnesota Rules of Civil Procedure and No-Fault law.
• Prior trial and mediation preparation experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Clio experience strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
• A dedicated home office with reliable internet.
